GPS tracking providers offer either cellular-based or satellite-based tracking systems. Cellular based solutions offer fast response times within urban areas, but are limited by inherent geographical conditions. Because objects and geography easily block transmissions, and communication towers are limited in location, coverage cannot be guaranteed. Satellite, on the other hand, works in all environments provided a direct line of sight to the sky exists.



New technologies have recently emerged in two-way Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications that allow clients to be offered choices utilizing multiple technologies. For example, Iridium, the largest provider of satellite phones in the world, recently released their first GPS data-only fleet-tracking modem. Unlike other satellite providers, Iridium and Globalstar do not suffer from coverage range or latency issues and at the same time provide the coverage that cellular cannot. Dual band technology uses both satellite and cellular methods simultaneously, providing global coverage with a vastly increased level of reliability.

Solution

Because of cost and technology requirements, early adopters of GPS tracking technology have typically been the very largest organizations. More recently, medium and smaller organizations have started to purchase GPS vehicle tracking technology, but have found it expensive to implement and difficult to use. It is these companies to whom DualPoint Wireless is focusing its marketing efforts, taking advantage of recent technology breakthroughs, with reduced costs and increased reliability, to make GPS products and services more widely available and acceptable in the marketplace. As a new player in the industry we are building and delivering the best solutions without hindrance of legacy technologies.



Based in California, DualPoint Wireless is currently selling satellite-only and cellular-only solutions, and is developing its new dual cellular/satellite-based two-way location tracking services. This provides our customers seamless connectivity with a superior solution for locating, tracking, reporting, securing and managing their assets worldwide.

We offer our satellite-only solution utilizing either the Iridium or Globalstar network to provide worldwide coverage. Both of these options include GPS technology, DualPoint’s software and mapping application using Google Maps connected to the Internet for client access. Our modems provide Location-Based Services (LBS) and maintain dependable operations using two-way communication with cellular towers or the Low Orbiting Satellites, and through radio signals with the GPS constellation of orbiting satellites to obtain accurate geographic and time measurement data. This enables us to deliver a reliable turnkey, subscription-based asset management solution to small and medium sized enterprises worldwide.
